Documentation

All approved parts are supplied complete with Status Instruments Ltd certificate of conformance stating that the product is manufactured to approved drawings and giving the classification and Certifying Body certificate number.

North American classifications

The North American protection concept differs from the European concept, therefore separate approvals apply for products sold for use within Northern America. Certain Status products are approved by FM for use within Northern America. The tables listed below are a guide to the differences between concepts.

All Intrinsically Safe Apparatus must be installed with the correct level of ingress Protection as specified on the apparatus instruction manual.

Ingress protection

2 digits are used to denote the level of ingress protection that a piece of apparatus enjoys.

For example IP 01 would give no protection against solids but would give protection against vertically falling drops of water.
