Signal Conditioners

Signal conditioners are used to convert one type of signal to another. For example most instrumentation works with the industry standard 4 to 20mA signal. If you are measuring temperature and you have a signal in ohms from a Pt100 sensor, you can use a signal conditioner to change the ohmic value of the sensor into a mA value that will directly represent the temperature value. This basic principle can be applied to sensors that measure a process and provide signals in mA, voltage, Pt100, thermocouple, pulse, frequency etc they can all be read by the signal conditioner to give the desired output for the rest of the control system.
